AthCast Turns (an Articulate Age). So, watching the Bulldogs battle the Gamecocks, AthCast begins to tell a story --
or, at the very least,
stumble through change.
The idea is to collect attention,
and focus it on a scene --
or the parts of it
that can make it through silicon windows.
Keep your pupils prodding
the shapes. (9/13/2008)

The Great Athcast Data Migration. Hey Everyone,
As you may have noticed, Athcast.com and many of our podcast feeds have been down this week. The site, as it appears now, is actually a backup that we made of the site before we launched, and dates back to late 2006.
The reason for this is that our hosting company, Subscribecast.com, recently closed its doors, and so the server that all of our content was hosted on was shut down. While backing up the files to migrate to a new server, a crucial database (.sql) file was inadvertently deleted.
Please hang with us as we work towards resolving this technical issue. We are trying to figure out how much data is missing, and will work towards getting the feeds back up -- but this could be a lengthy process.
At the very least, we know (and you can see on the site) that all of our blog posts, updates, and news posts that have been made on Athcast.com have disappeared, and are probably gone forever.
If you have any specific questions about what's going on, please feel free to email athcast@gmail.com, and also check back with the site in the coming weeks.
Thanks,
The Athcast Team

Upcoming Events
Atlas Sound, Stereolab -- 9/27, $15. Just go. If you read this, just go. Tickets are available, and there is a football game, I grant. Assuming the sound quality is acceptable, this is the place to be. Stereolab hasn't played in town in 10 years or something, and Atlas Sound are critical darlings. Do yourself a $27-dollar favor (with tip).(Stereolab just released a new album, too.)

Black Kids, 40 Watt, Tonight. If you're into seat-of-the-pants style plan making, you're probably the type who would like the shindig goin' down at the 40 Watt tonight. Chances are you're familiar with Black Kids, but if you're a little more like me, you may be on the fringe, if not out, of their world -- the world of sudden internet stardom -- and have been resisting the media blitz their faces became blamable for. If you followed that last sentence, do yourself a favor and check these hotties out. As of posting time, the 40 Watt website indicates available tickets remain. (I finally had a listen to some of their music, over at the myspace site, and it was worth it.) Maybe I'll see you there.
Dancing shall ensue...
thanks to ColorBarFactory for the vid (seems like a cool project)
(I toldya we shouldn'ta fed the dancers turkey before the shoot!)

[Athens] Julian Koster and Mt. Eerie, Cine, 9/15/08. The prolific and interesting Julian Koster is scheduled to perform what, according to intuition and the flagpole's preliminary description, promises to be a winner of a show tomorrow, 9/15, at Cine (venue link). For a cool $12 at the door, you get "music from Koster (Music Tapes), Mount Eerie, Thimble Circus and Nesey Gallons and...'the playing of St. Nikolai the Wonder Worker's Wishing Game of Candles in a nearby field'" (flagpole). Flagpole goes on to mention that "attendees are encouraged to bring a 12-inch candle." Sounds good to me. For more information on Koster, see this wikipedia link . If you are unaware of Mount Eerie, it might be of interest to check out this wikipedia link. Show time is 9pm. See you there.photo: Koster's hands holding a banjo (from Wikipedia) (9/14/2008)
